C’è aria di rinnovamento in casa Ubisoft, ma non si tratta di un rinnovamento creativo o gestionale, soprattutto a ridosso degli scandali che hanno coinvolto l’azienda negli ultimi anni legate ai maltrattamenti sul posto di lavoro.
Tramite un annuncio pubblicato sul blog del Supporto Clienti Ubisoft, la software house francese ha segnalato la chiusura dei server e servizi online di oltre 90 titoli rilasciati durante la settima generazione di console.
“Il servizio di multiplayer online per i titoli indicati in basso è stato terminato. Le funzioni per il singolo giocatore rimangono disponibili per ogni gioco. Anche le news e statistiche personali in gioco sono state disabilitate. Per i giochi che utilizzavano i servizi Ubisoft Connect, Sfide e Unità saranno disabilitate. Ciò significa che non ti sarà più possibile guadagnare Unità completando Sfide del gioco. Le ricompense potranno essere sbloccate, ma non potrai più riceverle in gioco. Se il tuo gioco non è stato trasferito con la migrazione a Ubisoft Connect nel 2020, tutte le ricompense saranno sbloccate automaticamente. I contenuti sbloccabili in gioco (ULC), come mappe e skins, saranno disabilitati, questo significa che non ti si sarà più possibile sbloccarli. Su PC, gli ULC non saranno più disponibili anche se sono stati già sbloccati. Su console, gli ULC saranno disponibili fin quando i salvataggi non vengono cancellati o resettati.”

Curioso come per alcuni di questi giochi siano state incluse anche le versioni pubblicate su OnLive, una delle prime piattaforme di gaming tramite streaming aperta nel 2010 e venduto a Sony nel 2015, con la tecnologia che divenne la base per il servizio PlayStation Now. Sul perché siano state incluse in questa lista… boh?
